Passion, enthusiasm and, contagious energy drive success.

That energy was palpable throughout the recently-completed St. Regis Longboat Key Resort and Residences, a complex $376 million luxury project near Sarasota. There, our leadership team’s goal was not just a completed project, but a legacy—one that reflects the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

Toby Manulak, Senior Vice President
Moss' Mid-Florida Region

At top-ranked national construction firm Moss, leadership is much more than giving directions and setting agendas. It’s about empowering teams to take ownership of their work. It’s about nurturing a culture where creativity is allowed to thrive. It’s about honoring relationships, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and inspiring teams to excel.

These leadership principles guide every Moss project, ensuring each development meets the highest standards of quality. This approach was especially effective at the St. Regis, giving hundreds of on-site workers the autonomy to innovate, collaborate, and tackle challenges head-on.

We prioritize building trust with team members, clients, and subcontractors. Throughout the St. Regis project, we encouraged initiative, innovation, and decision-making while ensuring seamless collaboration from construction documents to permitting and coordinating multiple subcontractors. This unified approach helped overcome obstacles like intricate designs, luxury standards and the narrow barrier island site.

One major challenge: transporting 800 workers daily to the site. We implemented a dedicated shuttle system that kept unnecessary traffic off the road and maintained steady site access.

Adding to the complexity, building within the state’s beachfront development setback zone presented environmental hurdles. We worked closely with regulatory agencies to ensure full compliance while preserving the coastal landscape.

These solutions showcase Moss’ ability to overcome complex logistical, regulatory, and construction challenges to deliver exceptional results.

In my 30 years in construction management, overseeing operations, staffing assignments, project plan development, cost and schedule analysis, and owner and subcontractor negotiations, I’ve seen firsthand how Moss’ leadership style fosters growth and success for our team members and clients alike.

Time and again, this approach to leadership has led to what our founder Bob Moss consistently challenges team members to achieve: At the end of a project, leave our client a better friend than when we started.

At Moss, we’re always looking for people who are passionate about making a difference for clients, who share our commitment to excellence and who want to benefit from our leadership style. Whether you want to be part of a team that fosters growth and innovation, or you’re seeking a partner who brings a collaborative, results-driven approach, we invite you to join us in building something exceptional.
