What sets this organization apart is its focus on building relationships based on trust, collaboration, and peer-to-peer learning.
Chad Campbell with Sunwest Bank shares his experience as a member of the Gulf Coast CEO Forum and Board of Directors’ Treasurer.
Q. Can you tell us more about your role with Sunwest Bank?
A. I’ve been the Florida President for Sunwest for about 3 ½ years and manage 20+ employees throughout the state. I oversee the bank’s distribution of capital into the communities we serve. Our aim is to establish relationships with local business owners and provide them with the resources to make an impact on their lives, businesses, and the community.
Q. How does Sunwest Bank differ from other banks in the area?
A. Sunwest is a bank built by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. We’re privately owned and serve the Florida, California, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho markets. Our model is commercial and middle market banking only, which allows us to provide a unique service experience that emphasizes relationships and personal connections.
Q. How has the Gulf Coast CEO Forum helped you and your business?
A. With more than 125 members and monthly speakers, I’m constantly learning from other leaders. One speaker who still stands out is David Marquet, U.S. Navy Captain, and author of, Turn the Ship Around! In 2014, he spoke to us on transformative leadership through the empowerment of employees, referred to as Intent Based Leadership. Implementing those concepts into my business increased thought leadership among my staff, improved morale, and increased productivity.
Q. What would you tell others who may want to join the Gulf Coast CEO Forum?
A. The hidden gem of the Forum is the Roundtables where you team up with 10-12 business leaders once a month and have what I like to call work therapy. Usually, somebody there has already dealt with whatever challenges you’re facing as a business leader and can offer strategies or solutions.
Q. In December, the Gulf Coast CEO Forum is hosting a Big Event featuring Jesse Itzler. What are you most looking forward to?
A. Jesse Itzler has such an eclectic background - he’s a musician, author, business owner, and part owner of the Atlanta Hawks. I’m interested in what makes a guy like that tick and curious as to what he brings to the table. He’s an entrepreneur who has been wildly successful. That kind of vision and energy is always an inspiration.
