A Lakewood Ranch civil engineering company has been acquired by a Texas firm that specializes in civil engineering, environmental and surveying services. Morris Engineering & Consulting LLC was purchased by Pape-Dawson, a company headquartered in San Antonio expanding in Florida.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Morris Engineering, on Professional Parkway in Sarasota County, was founded in 2009 and serves the greater Sarasota and Southwest Florida region. It has worked on residential and commercial projects, as well as multiple master-planned communities in the area, such as the under-development 2,300-unit Heron Creek in North Port and 2,700-unit West Port in Charlotte County.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of a growing, reputable organization that embodies excellence in all areas, including its people,” Morris Engineering President and owner Matt Morris says in a statement. “This partnership is built on a foundation of shared values and a desire to create new opportunities for our clients and employees.”
The acquisition of Morris Engineering marks the third for Pape-Dawson in the Sunshine State in the past two years. Others include civil engineering firm GradyMinor of Bonita Springs in 2024 and Poulos & Bennett, a planning, engineering and development services company based in Orlando, in 2023. According to a statement, the three Florida teams will deliver combined expertise to clients from engineering, planning and landscape architecture to surveying and power/energy.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to continue to build our presence in Florida with Morris Engineering,” Pape-Dawson President Trey Dawson says in the statement. “Our Florida teams have built strong local legacies, expertise and relationships, allowing them to provide exceptional client care and high-quality engineering services together.”
